Those images, but mostly the sounds have haunted me ever since I first encountered them before moving out. The gore cinema of the last half decade, Saw in particular has been the most responsible for making this generation more numb than ever. Am I alone in here? My favorite scariest part, of the newer release, was her going down the stairs in a back bend position. OMFG! I get the willies every time I think about it. I admit, I never saw the original one, is it that much different than the remake? Oh, I see (now) someone already mentioned the stairs. I tend not to read all comments. Sorry! Her peeing in front of all her mom's friends was classic, too. So bizarre! That was an awesome post. There I said it and I know I'm in the minority here. That being said, the scariest movies I've seen have all been ones that give more to the power of suggestion than in your face slasher flicks. The ones that subtly linger in your mind and question what you thought to be true. Sounds like this is one of those. Alright, so I’ve never seen this movie and am not really a fan of the horror flicks. There I said it and I know I’m in the minority here. I think it scared me more for Damien's struggle in a godless world, than Regan's demonic dilemma. I saw it in the re-release and the same thigns that scared me as a child still scared me... but the addition of the Captain Howdy image throughout the fil really upped my fear. And lest we forget the Staircase scene? FREAKY. Ultimately though, the crucific scene still sends chills down my spine. I know the Exorcist scared me when I first saw it- I must have been 12 or so.
